A Dream Come True

Amy always dreamed about owning acres of beautiful Tennessee land with animals roaming. She first came across the farm on Hipcamp, lusting over spending a weekend at the Cowgirl Cabin, which stands to this day. A few months later she went to book and the listing stated the cabin was closed, but the farm was for sale! Not even a month later she had put in an offer. In April of 2019 Lemon Lane Farm became official and Amy’s longtime dream came true.

Farm History

People

The history of this piece of land starts with the Lemons family (the farm’s namesake) when they founded it in the 1860s. This was a popular time to settle on the fertile land of the Cumberland Plateau. The Lemons have kept much of their land within the family for generations. Amy works to honor this family’s legacy and continues fostering friendships with the descendants of the original settlers. It helps that one of them lives down the road!

The Land

The land has had a lot of different uses over the years. Obviously, farming has been a large part of that! Grandview Mountain Cottages, however, was what brought Amy to the farm in the first place. Papa Phil and his daughter Ilaeka managed the Cowgirl Cabin along with several luxury cabins where people from all over to relax and enjoy Papa Phil’s famous cooking. Keeping with this tradition, Grandview Camp is now a place to come and unplug to reconnect with nature.

Farming

The land at Lemon Lane Farm has yielded many different crops! The original settlers, the Lemons, used the land to make sure the family had food and a livelihood. Since then, it has been used as a strawberry farm, a cattle ranch, and even a hippie commune in the 60s!! The pond on the property also served as a place where people in the surrounding area could come and water their horses. Amy continues to garden and raise animals here.

Frequently Asked Questions

+ What does "glamping" mean?

The combination of the words Glamours and Camping= Glamping it is the activity of camping with some of the comforts and luxuries of home. At Lemon Lane we think of it as Fancy Camping as we are not a luxury camp but we do have some sweet amenities versus popping up a tent.

+ What should we pack for our glamping experience at Lemon Lane Farm?

Pack your sense of adventure and consider leaving your devices in the car, get ready to come and unplug and reconnect with nature and the ones you love!!

We provide a welcome email that will give you a great feel for what you need for your trip. If it's not covered in the email we are always available to answer any questions!

+ Do your glamping sites have running water & electricity?

Each of the sites are set up a bit differently. Happy and Winnie have electricity and Tiny and Cowgirl do not but there's the option to add a generator to each site if electricity is needed. None of the sites have running water. We do provide 5 gallons of drinking water (which can be refilled as many times as needed). Tiny, Cowgirl and Happy have a rainwater collection system to use for washing dishes (after water is boiled) to fill the solar bags that are provided for a nice hot shower and just general campsite water needs.

+ Are your glamping sites pet/dog friendly?

We love when dogs come to the farm and they are covered in our cleaning fee. We allow dogs at Tiny and Cowgirl but not Happy and Winnie.

+ Do you offer Birthday, Bachelor, or Bachelorette parties?

Large groups are welcome, we can accommodate at Cowgirl or Tiny by adding Winnie Jane to one of those sites and or others can pop tent we just charge $25 per person per night. Reach out with what you are trying to plan or what you are thinking and we're happy to collaborate to make it a special event!

+ Are there hikes near the glampsites & farm?

We have a great 1.5 mile trail on the farm. We also keep all the edges of the pastures cut which can make for a beautiful wildflower hike. The Lemon Drop Trail (which will be the perimeter of the farm is under construction and we hope to have ready in the spring of 2021) Otherwise, we are 10 min from the Cumberland trail and we pretty much have a hike in any direction you point.
